Dear Community,
It’s incredible to think that we are already half way through December and just a few short days away from the holiday break. The time has flown by this first part of the year, but it has been a great four months. We have seen so much change and growth in your children and we are really pleased with how things are going. We hope you feel the same!
I have often been fascinated by the sheer number of holidays and/or celebrations that happen this time of year. A quick internet search for holidays celebrated in December yielded this list: Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Mexican), Ramadan (Muslim), St. Nicholas Day (Christian),Eid al-Fitr (Muslim), SaiEid'ul-Adha (Muslim), St. Lucia Day (Swedish), Hanukkah (Jewish), Christmas Day (Christian), Three Kings Day/Epiphany (Christian), Boxing Day (Australian, Canadian, English, Irish), Kwanzaa (African American), Omisoka (Japanese), Yule (Pagan), Saturnalia (Pagan). I enjoy knowing that this is a month of celebration, regardless of faith, and that during this time of year families come together to share and rejoice in their faith. Whatever your faith, I sincerely hope your celebration is full of love and joy.
Please remember that this Friday, December 18 we will have a holiday performance. The performance will begin at 11am and we hope you will join us! School will be dismissed for vacation following the performance (around 12:15).
Upcoming dates:
December 18: Holiday performance, 11am. School out after the performance
December 21-January 5: Vacation! Please note we are now required to return on January 6 (previously January 7)
January 6: Return to school
IMPORTANT REMINDER: SEP has changed the return date after the holiday break. We are now required to return on Wednesday, January 6 (not January 7). Please make note of this. Originally they had scheduled December 21 as a school day but have now changed this, and as a result they have shortened the vacation by one day.
On behalf of the staff here at CVIS we wish you the happiest of holidays and we hope you get to enjoy some extra special time with your families. This is a great time to appreciate all the love you have in your life, and commit to sharing even more with family and friends in the coming year.

Es increíble pensar que ya estamos a mitad de diciembre y sólo a unos días de las vacaciones. El tiempo ha pasado volando esta primera parte del año, pero han sido unos grandes cuatro meses. Hemos visto tantos cambios y crecimiento de sus hijos, y estamos muy contentos con cómo van las cosas. Esperamos que sienta lo mismo!
A menudo me ha fascinado el gran número de fiestas y/o celebraciones que tienen lugar en esta época del año. Una rápida búsqueda en Internet para fiestas celebradas en diciembre cedió esta lista: Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (México), el Ramadán (musulmán), Día de San Nicolás (Cristiano), Eid al -Fitr (musulmán), SaiEid'ul - Adha (musulmán), Santa Lucía Día (sueco), Jánuca (judío), el día de Navidad (Cristiano), Día de Reyes/Epifanía (cristiano), Día de San Esteban (Australia, Canadá, Inglés, irlandés), Kwanzaa (afroamericano), Omisoka (japonés), Yule (Pagan), Saturnalia (Pagan). Me gusta saber que este es un mes de celebración, independientemente de la fe, y que durante esta época del año las familias se reúnen para compartir y alegrarse con su fe. Sea cual sea su fe, espero sinceramente su celebración este llena de amor y alegría.
Por favor, recuerde que este viernes 18 de diciembre vamos a tener una presentación de invierno. La presentación comenzará a las 11am y esperamos que usted se una a nosotros! Escuela será despedido para vacaciones después de la presentación (alrededor de las 12:15).

21 de diciembre-5 de Enero: Vacaciones! Por favor recuerde que el regreso a clases es el 6 de Enero (previamente 7 de enero)

IMPORTANTE RECORDATORIO: SEP ha cambiado la fecha de regreso después de las vacaciones. Ahora tenemos que regresar el miércoles 6 de enero (no 7 de enero). Por favor, tome nota de esto. Originalmente se habían programado 21 de diciembre como día de la escuela, pero ahora han cambiado esto, y como resultado se han acortado las vacaciones por un día.
En nombre del personal aquí en CVIS le deseamos las más felices fiestas y esperamos que disfrute de un momento muy especial con sus familias. Este es un buen momento para apreciar todo el amor que tienes en tu vida, y comprometerse a compartir más con la familia y amigos en el próximo año
