Dear Community,
I hope you enjoyed the extra long weekend with your children and that you were able to get out and enjoy some the Festival Sayulita events. A big congratulation and thank you to Gabbi and Andrea (and all of the event organizers) for an incredible festival!
The value of the month is respect (Aretha!). As we do each month, teachers will be discussing the value throughout the month and highlighting the ways in which we can show our respect for ourselves, others, the environment, and our local community. We ask that you also take some time to discuss the importance of respect with your child, perhaps sharing some stories that highlight its importance.
We are just two short weeks away from our annual CVIS fundraiser! The fundraiser is on Wednesday, February 17 and tickets are on sale now—this is an event you don’t want to miss, and for so many reasons—the food, the dancing, the auction; but more importantly this event supports our Adopt a Scholar program which provides tuition assistance for deserving local scholars so they can be part of the CVIS family and realize their educational dreams.
It is important to note that tuition does not in any way help to support the scholarship program—we rely entirely on our fundraising efforts to support the program. So, come out for a great party and an even better cause! Tickets are available at CVIS, Avalos, and on line—got to: Fundraiser tickets and look for the “Buy Luau Tickets Here” tab. Childcare will be available at CVIS on the night of the fundraiser and we will send more information next week.
Re-enrollment of the 2016-17 school year begins this week. You should have received an email from me last week explaining the importance of re-enrolling within this 6 week enrolment period, and sharing a little about why we will be raising tuition in the coming year. If you did not receive the letter please email me and I will send it to you: andys@colegiocostaverde.com. Re-enrolment forms are in the office and will only take a moment or two to fill out. The special re-enrolment period for returning families lasts until March 18. After that time we will begin accepting applications from new families, so be sure to secure your child’s spot during the re-enrolment period.

Before I finish this letter, I want to take a moment to say a big thank you to our incredible APO (parents association) for all their hard work this year. This is a group of parents who are helping to organize events and mobilize volunteers to help support what we are doing at school. We couldn’t be the school we are today without our APO and the great work they are doing! Please remember that each family is asked by the school to complete 20 hours of service each year—seek out your class representative, APO President Ale Galvan, or Dana in the office to find out about volunteer service opportunities.

February 24: Dia de la Bandera (Flag Day Mexico). Parade! Students will be released after the parade, around 11am. More details soon.

Capoeira continues at CVIS on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school—2:30-3:30. There is still plenty of space in the classes for children of all ages. Drop by and check it out!

Espero que hayan disfrutado el fin de semana largo con sus hijos y que se haya podido salir y disfrutar de algunos de los eventos Festival de Sayulita. Una gran felicitación y gracias a Gabbi y Andrea (y todos los organizadores de eventos) por un festival increíble!
El valor del mes es respeto (Aretha!). Los maestros estarán discutiendo el valor durante todo el mes y las formas en que podemos mostrar nuestro respeto por nosotros mismos, otros, el medio ambiente y la comunidad local. Le pedimos que también se tome un tiempo para hablar de la importancia del respeto con su hijo, tal vez compartir algunas historias que muestran su importancia.
Estamos a sólo dos semanas de nuestra recaudación de fondos anual de CVIS! La recaudación de fondos es el miércoles, 17 de febrero y los boletos están a la venta--este es un evento que no se quiere perder por muchas razones, la comida, el baile, la subasta; pero lo más importante de este evento es que apoya nuestro programa de becas que proporciona ayuda para la colegiatura para los estudiantes locales para que puedan ser parte de la familia CVIS y realizar sus sueños educativos.
Es importante tomar en cuenta que la colegiatura no apoya el programa de becas- dependemos enteramente de nuestros esfuerzos para recaudar fondos para el programa. Por lo tanto, acompáñenos para una gran fiesta con una causa aún mejor! Los boletos están disponibles en CVIS, Avalos, y en línea: Fundraiser tickets donde dice "Compre entradas para Luau aquí". Guardería estará disponible en CVIS la noche de la recaudación de fondos y le enviaremos más información la próxima semana.
Reinscripción para el ciclo escolar 2016-17 comienza esta semana. Debería haber recibido un correo electrónico de mí la semana pasada que explica la importancia de volver a inscribirse dentro del período de 6 semana de inscripción, y compartí un poco acerca de por qué estaremos subiendo la colegiatura el próximo año. Si usted no recibió la carta, por favor contácteme y se lo envió: andys@colegiocostaverde.com. Formatos de reinscripción están en la oficina y sólo se toma un momento para llenarlo. El período especial de reinscripción para las familias que regresan dura hasta el 18 de marzo. Después de ese tiempo se comenzará a aceptar solicitudes de nuevas familias, así que asegúrese de apartar lugar para su hijo durante el período de reinscripción.

Antes de terminar esta carta, quiero tomar un momento para dar un gran agradecimiento a nuestro increíble APO (Asociación de padres) por todo su trabajo este año. Se trata de un grupo de padres que están ayudando a organizar eventos y movilizar voluntarios para ayudar a apoyar lo que estamos haciendo en la escuela. No podríamos ser la escuela que somos hoy sin nuestro APO y el gran trabajo que están haciendo! Por favor, recuerde que la escuela le pide a cada familia hacer 20 horas de voluntariado cada año – puede buscar a su representante de clase, el presidente de APO Ale Galvan, o Dana en la oficina para averiguar sobre las oportunidades de servicio voluntario.
