Much of our garden worked was rained out this week, but we still got lots of fun and exciting hands on learning done. Gran parte de nuestro jardín trabajado fue llovió esta semana, pero todavía nos dieron un montón de diversión y manos emocionantes en hacer algo de aprendizaje experimental.
1st grade is learning about the parts of the body and did a fun lesson tracing each other, labelling the parts, then cutting them out and putting them back together into wacky monsters. 3d grade science is studying compasses, directions, and more. Theyt did a cool activity where they made their own compasses using a magnet, a sewing needle, a wine cork, and a bowl of water. It worked! 4th grade math is studying decimals, and they made their own school supply store. Everyone got to "buy" and keep some cool supplies after correctly adding up their receipt and calculating their change. 6th grade and the secundaria Eco-Stewards continued helping to break down pallets. 6th grade is also conducting weekly bake and craft sales to help fund an end of the year trip. K1 and K2 will start some weekly gardening together today, and Surf classes start this week for 4th and 5th graders. 4th grade will also be going to Playa de los Muertos to film an epic skit about the history of meso-america, from the ice-age to now. 7th grade has a series of weather experiments they will do this week and has an upcoming trip to Altavista.
