Goodbyes, Mindset Workshop and more!

Dear Community,

As happens this time of year we say a few good byes this week.  Jason and Elena, our artists in residence, will have their last day with us this Friday.  While they have been here they have engaged our students in visual arts, crafting, singing, and circus arts (lots of juggling!).  It has been an amazing few months with Jason and Elena and we are extremely grateful to them for sharing their gifts and talents with us!

This week also marks my departure—a very bittersweet moment for me.  I am certainly excited to be returning to my family and to welcome my first grandchild, but I am going to sincerely miss CVIS and this community.  It has been an honor and privilege to serve as director these past two years, and I have come to love this amazing little school and all of the people that are a part of this community.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me into your community, supporting me during my time here, and for making my experience so special.  I wish you all the best!  I would love a chance to say goodbye to each and every one of you so please make time this week to say goodbye.  

Correction from last week’s letter:  The fist day of the 2016-17 school year is August 22, not August 23.  Also, the tentative (still may change a little) SEP calendar for next year is attached to this email!

Mindset workshop this week!  Ms. Gina, our ESL and Secundaria English Teacher, would like to invite interested parents to a workshop on Thursday 30 June, at 1:30pm. This workshop will be about a new and very important tendency called Mindset. Mindset is a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement and success. This tendency has proven to make a big difference in the way students think about their intelligence and how they perceive hard work. If you are interested please contact Gina to let her know you plan to attend.  This is a fascinating topic and one that has the potential to change the way we teach and raise our children.  Gina: gina@colegiocostaverde.com

The last Parent/Teacher conferences will be held July 7 and 8.  This will be a great time to meet with teachers and get a final update on your child’s growth this year.  Beginning soon you will be able to sign up for a conference time. Please remember these will be early release days—students will be out at 12pm on both of these days. NOTE: There will be no Guarderia on these days.

Two teaching positions open for next year—we are currently seeking qualified applicants to fill our English as a Second Language and Spanish as a Second Language positions.  Applicants must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience, experience working with students ages 6-14, be bilingual (or conversationally bi-linugal), and have excellent references.  Applicants should send a cover letter and resume (no other documents) to Tamra: rentals@move2sayulita.com 

Reminders: Our last official day of school will be July 13.  On this day we will celebrate graduations for our Kinder 3, Grade 6, and Grade 9 students—we will honor the passage from one part of their lives to another: kinder students pass on to primary, primary students pass on to Secundaria, and our Grade 9 students begin a new adventure as high school students.  Our end of year Clausura assembly and graduation will begin at 9am and we will release students to you after the assembly (likely around 10:30)

CVIS has 2 open positions for the Board of Directors. Requirements are as follows;

*Attend all 6 meetings throughout the 2016-17 school year. (Sept, Nov, Jan, March, May, June). 

* Participate in at least one of the fundraisers

*Commit to being on a Board Sub committee

*Understand and support the CVIS School and staff

*Serve a 2 year school term

Please submit your request to be a Costa Verde Board Member by including:

Estimada Comunidad,

Como sucede en esta época del año nos despedimos de algunas personas esta semana. Jason y Elena, nuestros artistas en residencia tendrán su último día con nosotros este viernes. Mientras han estado aquí han participado nuestros estudiantes en artes visuales, el canto y artes de circo (muchos malabares!). Ha sido unos meses sorprendentes con Jason y Elena y estamos muy agradecidos con ellos por compartir sus dones y talentos con nosotros!

Esta semana también marca mi partida, un momento muy agridulce para mí. Ciertamente estoy emocionado de volver a mi familia y dar la bienvenida a mi primera nieta, pero voy a extrañar sinceramente a CVIS y esta comunidad. Ha sido un honor y un privilegio servir como director estos últimos dos años, y he llegado a amar esta pequeña escuela y todas las personas que forman parte de esta comunidad. Les agradezco desde el fondo de mi corazón por darme la bienvenida a su comunidad, apoyarme durante mi tiempo aquí, y hacer mi experiencia tan especial. ¡Les deseo lo mejor! Me encantaría tener la oportunidad de decir adiós a todos y cada uno de ustedes así que por favor haga tiempo esta semana para decir adiós.

Taller de mentalidad esta semana! Ms. Gina, nuestra maestra de ESL y Secundaria le gustaría invitar a los padres interesados n un taller el jueves 30 de junio a la 1:30 pm. Este taller será sobre una nueva y muy importante tendencia llamada Mindset. Mindset es una idea simple descubierto por la mundialmente famosa psicóloga de la Universidad de Stanford, Carol Dweck en décadas de investigación sobre el logro y el éxito. Esta tendencia se ha comprobado que puede hacer una gran diferencia en la forma en que los estudiantes piensan acerca de su inteligencia y la forma en que perciben el trabajo duro. No school this Friday—professional development day for teachers.

Dear Community,

We are officially in the final stretch of the school year! In anticipation of the upcoming vacation break it can be very easy this time of year to begin to coast into the summer.  But it is important to remember that this time of year is one of great importance. This time of year is a time for students to consolidate their learning for the year, to learn about the importance of “finishing strong”, and to participate in rituals of closure.  I see this time of year as an opportunity to reflect on the growth and successes of the year, and to look forward to what a new school year will bring.  (By the way, SEP has announced the first day of school for 2016-17: August 23.)

Estamos oficialmente en el tramo final del ciclo escolar! En previsión de las próximas  vacaciones puede ser muy fácil en esta época del año comenzar a distraerse en el verano. Es importante recordar que esta época del año es de gran importancia. Esta época es un tiempo para que los estudiantes consoliden su aprendizaje del año, y aprendan acerca de la importancia de " concluir fuerte”, y para participar en los rituales de cierre. Staffing Plan and More!

Dear Community,

A big thanks to all of you who came out last week to support the Love Cats and the big fundraiser at Trapiche.  The Grade 7 class raised lots of money to purchase water filters in their effort to bring clean drinking water to all!

As promised we have our staffing update ready to share with you for next year.  12 of our 17 teachers are returning, and we are excited to have 6 new teachers joining the team!  You’ll notice there has been a little reshuffling of teachers, all done at the request and in support of, the teachers.  This is a great team of teachers!

Kinder

Kinder 1: Laura González (new hire, teacher from Guadalajara with teaching and art background).  Laura Angelica, previous Kinder 1 teacher, will be moving into the role of SEP representative for Kinder and will provide office support.

Kinder 2: Currently interviewing.  Laura Del Rosal’s husband has accepted a new job in the Bahamas so they are moving shortly after the summer. We’re very excited for her!

Kinder 3: Cabiri Calisto (new hire, from Canada with international experience and Montessori background, has been subbing for us this year).  Manuel is moving to Secundaria.

Muchas gracias a todos los que salieron la semana pasada para apoyar a los Love Cats y la gran recaudación de fondos en Trapiche. 7º  recaudo mucho dinero para la compra de filtros de agua en sus esfuerzos para llevar agua potable a todos!

Como se prometió tenemos nuestra actualización de personal para compartir con ustedes para el próximo ciclo. 12 de nuestros 17 maestros regresan, y estamos emocionados que 6 nuevos maestros se unirán al equipo! Se dará cuenta que hemos reorganización un poco a los profesores, todo hecho a petición y en apoyo de los maestros. Se trata de un gran equipo de maestros!

Kínder 1: Laura González (nueva contratación, maestra de Guadalajara con experiencia en arte y de maestra). Laura Angélica, anteriormente maestra de Kínder 1, se estará cambiando a representante de SEP en Kínder y proporcionará apoyo en la oficina.

Kínder 2: Actualmente entrevistando. El esposo de Laura Del Rosal ha aceptado un nuevo trabajo en las Bahamas, y se irán a vivir allá poco después del verano. Estamos muy emocionados por ella!

Love Cats Fundraiser, Board Meeting and More!

A huge thank you to all of you who attended our wonderful Family day last week!  It was great to celebrate all the amazing families that are a part of this school.  Special thanks to APO members who helped to organize the event, you did an incredible job!  And, a special thanks to all the teachers who supported their students in putting together a great show!

OPEN BOARD MEETING: As a reminder you are all invited and encouraged to attend the open board meeting this Wednesday, June 8 at 1:30pm in the Technology room.  The board will be updating the community on some key topics and this will be a great opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.  We hope you can make it.

In case you haven’t heard, the Love Cats, a band formed by 3 CVIS Secundaria students, will be playing at Trapiche tomorrow night.  Not only can you come hear some great music, but you’ll also be supporting a great cause—helping to provide water filters to people who live in areas where they don’t have access to clean drinking water (including victims of natural disasters)—this is a project that Grade 7 has been working on this year.  All proceeds from the event will go to the purchasing and installation of these water filters.  Come on out at 7pm to enjoy the show and help to support a great cause!  Trapiche is located behind the baseball field, next to Junto del Rio on Avenida del Palmar #10.  Please come support the event!

As we are now in June and headed into the last part of the year, we are also thinking about next year.  I know some of you are very curious to know about staffing for next year so I wanted to give you an update.  Several months ago we met with all of our teachers to discuss their plans and intentions for next year, and this week we will meet with all of the teachers to sign letters of intention.  These letters will formalize the commitment between the teachers and the school for next year.  These letters include teaching assignment and salary (which the board has found a way to raise for teaching staff!). Once we have met with all the teachers we can announce staffing assignments for next year, which we will do next week. 

Many of you have inquired about my scheduled departure date and I wanted to let you know that the board and I have recently agreed to a July 1 finish for me.   There is an overlap of my current contract here at CVIS and the contract that I am under for my new position (starts July 1).  The new district is allowing me a short window of transition time but I need to report to work by July 11.  I will leave Sayulita on July 2 and arrive in my new town by July 7, giving me a few days to settle in before I begin work.  Jessica will take over my responsibilities for the last two weeks of school and I am more than confident that things will run smoothly with her in charge.  I will stay connected with Jessica and Chris, the new director, during these last two weeks (and beyond!) to support them in any way they may need.  We are expecting Chris to arrive July 4, which will give him a wonderful opportunity to get to know the staff, students, and families prior to the start of next year.   I have been in close communications with Chris over the last few weeks and we are well on our way to making sure the handover in July is a smooth one.  Chris is being briefed on the work that we have been doing over the last few years and where we see the school headed in the coming years.  I have been able to share important information about curriculum, the staff, the community, and so much more; we are seizing this great opportunity to be in good communication leading up to his arrival.

Un enorme gracias a todos los que asistieron a nuestro maravilloso día de la familia la semana pasada! Fue genial celebrar a todas las familias increíbles que son parte de esta escuela. Un agradecimiento especial a los miembros de APO que ayudaron a organizar el evento y que hicieron un trabajo increíble! Un agradecimiento especial a todos los maestros que apoyaron a sus estudiantes en la elaboración de un gran espectáculo!

JUNTA ABIERTA: Como recordatorio todos ustedes están invitados a asistir a la reunión de la mesa directiva este miércoles, 8 de junio a la 1:30 en la sala de tecnología. La mesa directiva estará actualizando la comunidad sobre algunos temas claves y esto será una gran oportunidad de hacer preguntas y compartir ideas. Esperamos que puedan asistir.

En caso de que no haya oído, The Love Cats, una banda formada por 3 estudiantes de secundaria en CVIS estarán tocando en Trapiche mañana por la noche. No sólo puede llegar y escuchar buena música, sino que también puede apoyar una gran causa - ayudando a proporcionar filtros de agua a las personas que viven en zonas en las que no tienen acceso a agua potable (incluidas las víctimas de desastres naturales). Este es un proyecto que 1º de secundaria ha estado trabajando este ciclo. Todas las ganancias del evento se destinarán a la compra e instalación de estos filtros de agua. Acompáñenos a las 7 pm para disfrutar del espectáculo y ayudar a apoyar una gran causa! Trapiche está detrás del campo de béisbol, al lado del Río Junto en la Avenida del Palmar # 10. Como ahora estamos en junio y nos dirigimos hacia la última parte del ciclo escolar, también estamos pensando en el próximo año. Sé que algunos de ustedes están muy curiosos por saber sobre el personal para el próximo ciclo, así que quería darle una actualización. Hace varios meses hablamos con todos nuestros maestros para discutir sus planes e intenciones para el próximo ciclo, y esta semana nos vamos a juntar con todos los maestros para firmar cartas de intención. Estas cartas van a  formalizar el compromiso entre los maestros y la escuela para el próximo ciclo. Estas cartas incluyen asignación de grado y el salario (que la mesa directiva ha encontrado una manera de aumentar para los maestros!). Una vez que nos hemos reunido con todos los maestros podemos anunciar las asignaciones del personal para el próximo ciclo, lo que vamos a hacer la próxima semana.

Muchos de ustedes han preguntado acerca de mi fecha de salida y quería hacerle saber que acorde con la mesa directiva una fecha de salida de 1 de Julio. Existe un traslape de mi contrato actual en CVIS y el contrato que para mí nueva posición (comienza el 1 de julio). El nuevo distrito me esta permitiendo una breve ventana de tiempo de transición, pero tengo que presentarme a trabajar el 11 de julio. Dejaré Sayulita el 2 de julio, llegaré a mi nueva ciudad el 7 de julio, lo que me da un par de días para acomodarme antes de comenzar a trabajar. Jessica se hará cargo de mis responsabilidades durante las dos últimas semanas de la escuela y estoy seguro que todo irá bien. Voy a mantenerme conectado con Jessica y Chris, el nuevo director, durante estas dos últimas semanas (y más adelante!) Para apoyarlos en todo lo que puedan necesitar. Esperamos que Chris llegue el 4 de julio que le dará una excelente oportunidad para conocer a los empleados, estudiantes, y las familias antes del inicio del próximo ciclo. He estado en comunicación con Chris durante las últimas semanas y nos estamos asegurando que el cambio de director en julio sea fácil. Chris se informó sobre el trabajo que hemos estado haciendo en los últimos años y a donde queremos dirigir a la escuela en los próximos años. He podido compartir información importante sobre el currículo, el personal, la comunidad, y mucho más; estamos aprovechando esta gran oportunidad de tener buena comunicación previa a su llegada.

Family Day and More!

Dear Community,

It’s amazing to believe, but by the middle of the week it will already be June!  The mangoes are ripening, the temperature is warming, and we are starting to think about summer.  We are now just 7 shorts weeks away from summer!  (And, I’ll take this opportunity to remind you that with the arrival of summer and the temperature rising we need to make sure our kids are staying hydrated.  You can help by making sure your child has a water bottle at school.)

Family Day is this Friday, June 3.  We invite all parents to join us for a wonderful breakfast and some student performances.  Breakfast will begin at 8:15am and performances will start at 9am.  We hope you can join us!

The school value to be honored in June is Justice.  We’ll be discussing justice here at school and we hope you will do the same at home.  What is justice?  How does it relate to fairness, something we hear a lot about from our children?  Justice and fairness are important in order to make sure that everyone has the chance to succeed, and to make our home, school, community and world a better place for all people.  So, what are some ways we can show justice and fairness in our lives and at school? Here are a few:

*Treat all people equally and with kindness

*Cooperate with one another

*Be respectful and listen to what others have to say

*Be willing compromise at times for the good of the whole

*Play by the rules at all times; be a good sport

*Include others in games and activities--don’t leave people out

*Understand that being fair doesn’t always mean the same treatment in every circumstance.  Sometimes fairness means not everyone gets the same, but they get what they need.

Our wonderful artist and residence team of Jason and Elena have been engaging our students in some wonderful and playful activities these past few weeks.  I want to highlight one of the activities and its benefits: juggling.  Jason shared this with me the other day:  Juggling leads to improved hand-eye coordination, bi-manual dexterity, focused concentration, goal-setting skills, problem solving skills, and delayed gratification.  Research has shown that there is a direct relationship between the hand-eye coordination learned through juggling and the ability to read, write and reason.  Much research has also been published on the positive benefits that juggling has on the development of the brain.  Students that learn how to juggle also find other skills easier to acquire. This is partially because of improved reflexes and coordination, and partially because they have learned how to learn.  The process of learning how to juggle by going step-by-step will carry over to many different skills in life.  It also leads to self-confidence and a heightened sense of ones personal potential.

Es increíble creer, pero a mediados de la semana ya será junio! Los mangos están madurando, la temperatura se está calentando, y estamos empezando a pensar en el verano. Ahora estamos a sólo 7 semanas de verano! (Y , Voy a aprovechar esta oportunidad para recordarles que con la llegada del verano y el aumento de la temperatura tenemos que asegurarnos de que nuestros hijos se mantengan hidratados. Puede ayudar asegurándose de que su hijo tenga una botella de agua en la escuela.)

Día de la Familia es este viernes, 3 de junio. Invitamos a todos los padres a unirse a nosotros para un desayuno maravilloso y algunas presentaciones de los estudiantes. El desayuno comenzará a las 8:15 am y las actuaciones se iniciarán a las 9 am. Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros!

El valor de la escuela para ser honrado en junio es Justicia. Vamos a estar discutiendo la justicia aquí en la escuela y esperamos que hagan lo mismo en casa. ¿Qué es la justicia? ¿Cómo se relaciona con lo que es justo, algo de que hablan mucho nuestros hijos? La justicia y la equidad son importantes con el fin de asegurarse de que todo el mundo tiene la oportunidad de tener éxito, y para hacer de nuestro hogar, la escuela, la comunidad y el mundo un lugar mejor para todas las personas. Nuestro maravilloso equipo de artista en residencia, Jason y Elena han estado llevando a cabo nuestros estudiantes en algunas maravillosas actividades lúdicas estas últimas semanas. Quiero destacar una de las actividades y sus beneficios: malabares. Jason compartió esto conmigo el otro día: Malabarismo conduce a la mejora de la coordinación mano-ojo, destreza bi- manual, la concentración enfocada, habilidades para establecer objetivos, habilidades para resolver problemas, y gratificación retrasada. La investigación ha demostrado que existe una relación directa entre la coordinación mano-ojo aprende a través de malabares y la capacidad de leer, escribir y razonar. Mucha de la investigación también se ha publicado en los beneficios positivos que tiene malabares en el desarrollo del cerebro. Los estudiantes que aprenden a hacer malabares también encuentran otras habilidades más fáciles de adquirir. Esto es en parte debido a la mejora de reflejos y la coordinación, y en parte porque han aprendido como aprender. El proceso de aprender a hacer malabares por ir paso a paso se trasladará a muchas habilidades diferentes en la vida. También conduce a la confianza en sí mismo y un sentido elevado de las posibilidades personales.

Teacher Week, Day of the Student and More!

Dear Community,

I start this week with a huge thank you to all the students and families who made last week so special for the teachers.  The kind thoughts and gifts were greatly appreciated by the teachers, and made them feel very appreciated!  Thank you for all the time and energy that you all put into celebrating our teachers.

Today was Day of the Student, a special day for Secundaria students. The students spent the day at Los Muertos Beach, eating sushi and pizza, and playing in the water.  It was a very relaxing and fun day for the kids and their teachers.  A big thank you to APO for supporting the event!

A few highlights from last week—Grade 7 had us laughing along with them during their performance for Spanish class, Secundaria students helped to paint signs to keep the river clean, and Grade 6 had a bake sale to support their end of year trip to Santa Maria del Oro.   A few photos:

SAVE THE DATE: Next Friday, June 3 we will celebrate Family Day at CVIS.  We invite all parents to join us for a delicious breakfast starting at 8:15am followed by performances from all the classes from 9-10am.  We hope you can join us for this special day honoring the family!

Please remember that this Friday is the last Friday of the month, which means there is no school for students.  Teachers will be involved in professional development in Bucerias.

Empiezo esta semana con un enorme gracias a todos los estudiantes y familias que hicieron la semana pasada especial para los maestros. Los buenos pensamientos y regalos fueron muy apreciados por los maestros, y los hizo sentir muy apreciados! Gracias por todo el tiempo y la energía que uso para celebrar a nuestros maestros.

Hoy es el día del Estudiante, un día especial para los estudiantes de secundaria. Los estudiantes pasaron el día en la playa Los Muertos, comiendo sushi y pizza, y jugando en el agua. Fue un día muy relajado y divertido para los niños y sus maestros. Un gran agradecimiento a APO por apoyar el evento!

Algunos eventos importantes de la semana pasada- 1º de secundaria nos hiso reir con ellos durante su actuación para la clase de español, los estudiantes de secundaria ayudaron a pintar señales para mantener el río limpio, y 6º tuvo una venta de postres para apoyar su viaje de fin de año a Santa María del Oro. Teacher Appreciation Week!

This week we are celebrating teachers! May 15 is the official Day of the Teacher in Mexico and this week we will be honoring the amazing teachers We Have at CVIS. Have Representatives APO organized a list of activities for students and families to Participate in each day. Hopefully your class representative APO has made ontact with you to share the information with you. Today students brought` in flowers for teachers and it was a beautiful gesture! Here's a run down for the rest of the week:

Tuesday: Bring chocolate for the teachers
Wednesday: Students are Asked to create a drawing to share With Their teacher
Thursday: Bring some delicious fruit to share
Friday: Students are Encouraged to write a note of appreciation for Their teachers.

Additional note: You are welcome go above and beyond These suggestions; any and all gestures of appreciation will be well received!

A HUGE thank you for All Who Attended our amazing Celebrate the Beat performance last week-it was incredible! I Have Been stopped on the street and in the surf break by people I do not even know - who saw the performance and wanted to tell me how impressed They Were by the students. It was a wonderful community event, and we are so proud of our children for how hard They Have worked over the last few months. Congratulations to everyone! There are some photos and a few video on our CVIS Facebook Page and on our website ( CVIS photos ).

We are aware That some of our foreign families will be leaving a little before the end of the school year. If you are planning to leave before the end of the school year we simply ask that you ' inform your child's teachers and the office a few weeks prior to your departure date. Doing so Gives us a chance to touch basis with you before you leave and to share any information Important That May need to be passed on. And, We have a chance to say a proper goodbye! We appreciate your support in communicating your departure information.

Attention chess players or anyone interested in learning to play chess. We now Have a Chess Club meets every Thursday after school at the picnic tables. A big thanks to Mr. John and Jason Lawton (parent) who are volunteering time to make this happen!

Los representantes de APO han organizado una lista de actividades para los estudiantes y las familias para participar en cada día. Esperemos que su representante de APO se haya puesto en contacto con usted para compartir la información. Hoy los estudiantes trajeron flores para los maestros y fue un gesto muy bonito! Un ENORME agradecimiento a todos los que asistieron a nuestra increíble presentación de Celebrando el Ritmo la semana pasada-- fue increíble! Me han parado en la calle personas que ni siquiera conozco que vieron la presentacion y me dicen lo impresionados que estaban por los estudiantes. Fue un evento maravilloso de la comunidad, y estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros hijos por lo duro que han trabajado en los últimos meses. ¡Felicidades a todos! Estamos conscientes de que algunas de nuestras familias extranjeras se van un poco antes del final del ciclo escolar. Si usted está planeando irse antes del final del ciclo escolar simplemente solicitamos que informe a los maestros de su hijo y la oficina un par de semanas antes de su fecha de salida. Si lo hace, nos da la oportunidad de platicar con usted antes de irse y compartir cualquier información importante. También nos da la oportunidad de despedirnos! Agradecemos su apoyo en la comunicación de sus datos de salida.

Atención a los jugadores de ajedrez o cualquier persona interesada en aprender a jugar ajedrez. Ahora tenemos un club de ajedrez que se reúne todos los jueves después de la escuela en las mesas de lonch. Toilet Paper Rolls! Day of The Child and more!

HELP NEEDED:  We are hoping to collect 200+ toilet paper or paper towel cores (cardboard tubes) by this Wednesday for a Day of the Child project.  Please help by bringing in any that you may have at home between today and Wednesday.

We had an amazing week last week honoring Earth Day: a community clean up, classroom activities, an Upcycle Challenge, a photography contest (incredible photos!), a book exchange, singing from Grades 3 and 4, and we ended the week with a great Surf a Thon on Saturday.  Big thank yous to some special CVIS people for supporting last week's Earth Day events: all the incredible teachers and support staff, Anne Menke for her tireless work on the Surf a Thon, Niki Bhattacharya and Kirsten Marshall for their photography work, and to donors (Chocobanana, Don Pedro's, and Naef Cuisine) who contributed to Grade 7s bake sale to raise funds for water filters for local families without access to clean drinking water. We are a very fortunate and lucky community, and this past week the students really showed their commitment to protecting and enhancing our community and the environment.

Day of the Child is this Thursday and our wonderful APO has a morning of fun activities planned for our Kinder and Primary students.  Kinder and Primary students will have early release that day at 11am.  Secundaria students will have a normal school day, and will have a special celebration of their own on May 23 to honor Day of the Student.  

Grade 7 would like to thank the community for making their bake sale a huge success. The students were happily overwhelmed by the crowd that rushed over after the assembly to buy up all of the cake, cookies, ice pops, rice pudding, and flan. The students would like to give a special thanks to Don Pedro’s, Choco Banana and Naef Cuisine for each donating a cake. The bake sale raised 3,000 pesos, or about 170 USD – only 30 USD short of our goal to purchase four water filters for communities needing access to safe drinking water.  Learn more about water filters and the students’ inspiration for this project at wavesfowater.org. 

Please mark your calendars for the big Celebrate the Beat performance coming up on Wednesday, May 11.  The show will take place at the local primary school and will start at 7pm—arrive early to get a good seat!  We will need lots of support from parents in the afternoon on the day of the show—extra supervision, snacks, and general help in getting things ready.  Next week we will send a more detailed list of needed help.

Somos una comunidad muy afortunada, y esta última semana los estudiantes realmente mostraron su compromiso con la protección y mejora de nuestra comunidad y el medio ambiente.

Día del Niño es este jueves y nuestro maravilloso APO tiene una mañana de actividades divertidas planeadas para nuestro Kínder y primaria. Kínder y primaria saldrán ese día a las 11am. Estudiantes de secundaria tendrán un día normal de clases, y tendrán una celebración especial el 23 de mayo en honor del Día del Estudiante.

Los estudiantes de 1º de secundaria quisieran agradecer a la comunidad por hacer su venta de pasteles un gran éxito. Los estudiantes fueron felizmente sorprendidos por la multitud que se precipitó después de la asamblea para comprar pastel, galletas, paletas de helado, arroz con leche, y flan. Los estudiantes les gustaría dar un agradecimiento especial a Don Pedro’s, Chocobanana, y Naef Cuisine por donar un pastel cada quien. La venta de pasteles recaudo3.000 pesos, unos 170 USD - solo 30 USD corto de nuestro objetivo de adquirir cuatro filtros de agua para las comunidades que necesitan acceso al agua potable. Más información acerca de los filtros de agua y la inspiración de los estudiantes para este proyecto en wavesfowater.org. 

Por favor marque su calendario para el gran evento de Celebrando el Ritmo el miércoles, 11 de mayo. El espectáculo se llevará a cabo en la escuela primaria local y comenzará a las 7 pm-llegue temprano para conseguir un buen asiento! Vamos a necesitar mucho apoyo de los padres la tarde del evento con supervisión adicional, aperitivos, y ayuda en general para preparar las cosas. La próxima semana vamos a enviar una lista más detallada de la ayuda necesaria.

11 de mayo: Presentación de Celebrando el Ritmo en la escuela primaria -show comienza a las 7:00pm (Llegue un poco más temprano) Usted no querrá perderse esto! Vamos a necesitar ayuda en el día del evento, más información pronto.

18 de mayo: Salida temprano 12pm. Taller de maestros.

23 de mayo: Día del Estudiante. Celebración para los estudiantes de secundaria. Detalles pronto.

Earth Day, Dia de los Ninos, Surf-A-Thon and more!

Dear Community,

I start this week’s note with a request for your support.  With the recent time change we have noticed a huge increase in the number of students arriving to school late (after 8am).  We know that the change has been difficult for some of your children—getting up and getting to school in the dark is no fun, and we don’t love it either!  However, students arriving late can be very disruptive to the start of the day as teachers often have to repeat instructions or worse, teachers have to wait for students to arrive to begin certain activities.  We sincerely hope we can have your support in doing all you can to get your children to school on time, preferably a little early.  Please remember that 8am is our start time, not the arrival time, so please try and be a little early.  Thank you!

April 22 is Earth Day, but as you know we are celebrating Earth Month—seems like the least we can do for the planet!  A quick reminder of all the great stuff we have going on this month: 

1) Earth Month Challenge: The idea is simple: living a more sustainable life requires changes in our daily lives.  The idea for the challenge is that you work with your family to make the change and then try and stick with it. What have you chosen to do?

2) Photo Contest and Exhibition: Students and parents are encouraged to participate!  The top 25 photos will be on display on Earth Day.  Submit your photos to Ms. Gina by April 18: gina@colegiocostaverde.com.

3) Classroom activities: Various activities will take place throughout the month

4) Book Exchange:  On Earth Day, Friday April 22, bring a book or two you’d like to exchange for another book or two.  A great way to re-use books!

5) Local clean ups: Each class will help to clean the community

6) Repurposing Challenge: Students will be challenged to create new things out of discarded materials.  Stay tuned for more details.  Starts this week.

7) Information sharing: Secundaria students will write an article for El Sayulero and will be handing out plants and information to local businesses.

Empiezo la nota de esta semana con una petición por su apoyo. Con el reciente cambio de horario hemos notado un gran aumento en el número de estudiantes que llegan tarde a la escuela (después de las 8). Sabemos que el cambio ha sido difícil para algunos de sus hijos, levantarse y llegar a la escuela en la oscuridad no es divertido, a nosotros tampoco nos gusta! Sin embargo, los estudiantes que llegan tarde pueden ser muy disruptivos para el inicio de la jornada, ya que maestros tienen que repetir las instrucciones o, peor aún, tienen que esperar que los estudiantes lleguen para comenzar ciertas actividades. Esperamos sinceramente que podemos contar con su apoyo en hacer todo lo posible para que lleguen sus hijos a la escuela a tiempo, preferiblemente un poco antes de las 8. Por favor, recuerde que es nuestra hora de inicio, no la hora para llegar, así que por favor trata de llegar un poco más temprano. ¡Gracias!

22 de abril es el Día de la Tierra, pero como usted sabe que estamos celebrando el Mes de la Tierra-parece ser lo menos que podemos hacer por el planeta! Un recordatorio de todas las cosas geniales que tenemos este mes:

1) Desafío Mes de la Tierra: La idea es simple: vivir una vida más sostenible requiere cambios en nuestra vida diaria. La idea para el reto es que se trabaja con su familia para hacer el cambio y luego tratar de seguir con ella. ¿Qué ha optado por hacer?

Waves For Water, Surf A Thon and More!

Dear Community,

Welcome back, we hope you had a wonderful Semana Santa!  I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Oaxaca with my family and absolutely loved it—the city, the food, the artisans, the Sierras, the people, the culture, and more!  It was truly an incredible experience!

We have lots to share this week, especially in regards to Earth Day (actually Earth Month).  A quick run-down on the events:

1) Earth Month Challenge: For the month of April I am challenging each and every family, and each and every student, to the Earth Month Challenge!  The idea is simple: living a more sustainable life requires changes in our daily lives.  The idea for the challenge is that you work with your family to make the change and then try and stick with it.  This week it’s time to set put your change into action!  What have you chose to do?  Still need ideas?

*Refuse to use any Styrofoam

*Refuse straws when they are offered to you

*Walk to school once or twice a week (or more) instead of driving (and yes, even our electric golf carts cause pollution—where does that electricity come from?)

*Help clean up your neighborhood

*Buy few packaged food and reduce your garbage

*Start recycling if you don’t already

*Start composting by dropping off your food waste/scraps at school—we’d love your help in making more compost!

*Incorporate more non-toxic cleaning products in your house

*Take shorter showers and conserve water

*Start a home garden and grow some of your own food

*Find something that is important to you and do it!

2) Photo Contest and Exhibition: Like last year we will have a photo contest highlighting the importance of nature and conservation—more details coming this week!  You and your child can start now (yes, there will be a parent and teacher category) by taking photos or looking through past photos.  The top 25 photos will be on display on Earth Day.

Though school was closed yesterday a few students had the good fortune to meet Jon Rose, professional surfer and safe water activist.  Jon was in town for a good friend’s wedding and came to CVIS to present one of the filters his organization, Waves for Water (http://www.wavesforwater.org/) share with thousands of people around the world who do not have access to safe drinking water. The filter was given to a San Ignacio resident whose family lives off the grid and primarily sustains themselves off of rain water.  The family can now safely drink water, up to about a million gallons with the filter they just received!  We hope the students who were here for the presentation are now inspired to carry on this mission of helping to provide safe drinking water to people here in Mexico.

After School Opportunities with Jason and Elena:

Starting this week our artist in residence Jason and Elena will be offering a few after school activities:

*JUGGLING--Tuesday and Thursday 2:30 - 3:30-- Jason will be offering a juggling club for students ages 9-15. All level of jugglers are welcome; no experience necessary. Come learn to juggle or learn new tricks. The possibilities are endless! Cost is 100 pesos per class.

*UKULELE--Tuesday 3:30 - 4:30-- Elena will also begin offering group Ukulele lessons. All experience levels welcome. Come bring your Ukulele and learn your favorite songs.  Cost is 100 pesos per class.  You can come to just juggling, just Ukulele or stay for both! There will be a 10% discount if you pre pay for 10 classes at a time. Scholarship funding available, please inquire.

Bienvenido de nuevo, esperamos que hayas tenido una maravillosa Semana Santa! Yo tuve la suerte de hacer un viaje a Oaxaca con mi familia y nos encantó - la ciudad, la comida, los artesanos, las sierras, las personas, la cultura, y mucho más! Fue realmente una experiencia increíble!

Tenemos mucho que compartir esta semana, especialmente en respecto a Día de la Tierra (en realidad Mes de la Tierra). Un pequeño resume de los eventos:

1) Desafío Mes de la Tierra: Para el mes de abril estoy desafiando a cada familia, y cada uno de los estudiantes, al Desafío Mes de la Tierra! La idea es simple: vivir una vida más sostenible requiere cambios en nuestra vida diaria. La idea detrás del desafío es que elija un pequeño cambio que le gustaría hacer para vivir de forma más sostenible y durante un mes usted y su familia haga el cambio. La esperanza es que después del mes, el cambio sea permanente. Es hora de empezar con su cambio! Que eligió cambiar? Aun necesitas ideas?

* Negarse a utilizar cualquier unicel

* Rechazar popotes cuando les ofrezcan

* Caminar a la escuela una o dos veces a la semana (o más) en lugar de conducir (y sí, incluso nuestros carros de golf eléctricos causan contaminación. De dónde viene la electricidad?)

* Ayudar a limpiar su vecindario

* Comprar pocos alimentos envasados reducir su basura

* Iniciar el reciclaje si no lo hace ya

* Empezar a usar la composta – puede dejar sus residuos de alimentos en la escuela –nos encantaría contar con su ayuda para hacer más compost a!

* Incorporar más productos de limpieza no tóxicos en su casa

* Tome duchas más cortas y conservar el agua

* Iniciar un jardín en casa y hacer crecer algunos de sus propios alimentos

* Encuentra algo que es importante para usted y hacerlo!

Aunque la escuela se cerró ayer algunos estudiantes tuvieron la suerte de conocer a Jon Rose, surfista profesional y activista de agua potable. Jon estaba en la ciudad para la boda de un buen amigo y llegó a CVIS para presentar uno de los filtros que su organización, Waves for Water( http://www.wavesforwater.org/) comparte con miles de personas en todo el mundo que no tienen acceso al agua potable. El filtro fue dado a un residente de San Ignacio cuya familia vive fuera de la red y en primer lugar sostiene a sí mismos con las aguas pluviales. La familia ahora puede beber el agua sin peligro, hasta aproximadamente un millón de galones con el filtro que acaba de recibir! Esperamos que los estudiantes que estuvieron aquí para la presentación ahora se inspiren para llevar a cabo esta misión de ayudar a proporcionar agua potable a la gente aquí en México.

*Ukulele Lunes y Miércoles 3:30-4:30-- Elena también comenzará a ofrecer clases de Ukulele. Todos los niveles de experiencia son bienvenidos. Venga con su ukulele a aprender sus canciones favoritas. El costo es de 100 pesos por clase. Usted puede venir a malabares, Ukulele o quedarse para ambos! Habrá un descuento del 10 % si pre paga por 10 clases a la vez. Surf A Thon, After School Program and Earth Day!

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  March 18 is the deadline for priority re-enrollment for next year.  Many of the classes are at or near capacity so please be sure to re-enroll by this Friday, March 18.

A big thanks to all of you for attending your parent/teacher conferences last week.  We hope the conferences were informative and helpful!  Please remember that these conferences are part of our formal meeting process, but that you are always welcome to make time to meet with your child’s teacher(s) to discuss concerns and/or share ideas about your child’s development and education.

For student wishing to help raise locally without using the surf a thon page permission forms will be coming home this week.  We are seeking permission from parents first to allow your child to ask people to donate.  Once we have the signed form from you we will send home a sponsorship form.  

Following our Celebrate the Beat artist in residency in May we will have the talented husband and wife team of Jason Burnstein and Elena Orsak. Please join our visiting guest artists, Jason and Elena, as they share their unique blend of clowning, juggling, mime and music in a special pop up performance right here at CVIS.—this Wednesday, March 16th, at 2:15pm on the cancha. The performance is geared to capture the imagination of ALL AGES so all are welcome and encouraged to attend! This teaser of their original two person show will be approximately 15 minutes long and will begin promptly at 2:15 pm. Jason and Elena are excited to introduce themselves to the community and to give a taste of what is to come.

Jason and Elena recently moved here from Minneapolis, Minnesota where they both have many years of experience working with children ages 5 - 18. Together they bring a wealth of talent in the arts from theater and circus arts to music, painting and more! They will begin teaching a few classes per week in April and then will take on the full artist in residence program after the Celebrate the Beat performances in May. They also will begin offering some after school activities after the break.

Great new after school offering coming soon! Beginning after Semana Santa, CVIS parent and media maker Niki Bhattacharya will offer Filmmaking Classes at CVIS from 3:30-5:30 on Monday and Wednesdays. This 7-week course in digital storytelling will include finding a story, writing a script, producing a shoot, working with actors or subjects, filming/sound, editing and screening (equipment will be provided). There is a lot to cover so the class will be 2 hours/week with possible outside filming. The cost is $240 pesos per 2 hour session ($1,440 for the course). Scholarships may be possible for those who can't meet the tuition. The class size will be limited so everyone can fully participate. 

Niki has undergraduate and graduate degrees in filmmaking and over 10 years of experience in the documentary film industry.  She has taught undergraduate film production courses and ran the documentary film MFA program at the School of Visual Arts for seven years.   Please email nikibhattacharya@gmail.com for more information or to reserve a place in the class.

Por favor, recuerde que estas conferencias son parte de nuestro proceso de reunión formal, pero siempre son bienvenidos a hacer tiempo para reunirse con el maestro de su hijo para discutir las preocupaciones y / o compartir ideas sobre el desarrollo y la educación de su hijo.

El Surf a thon anual llega en abril! La fecha ha sido fijada para el sábado, 23 de abril. Este es un evento de recaudación de fondos muy importante para CVIS y esperamos poder contar con su apoyo para el evento! Aparte esta fecha para que pueda acompañarnos a un día súper divertido para recaudar fondos, surf y diversión. El surf es de 9 a.m.-1 p.m., seguido por la fiesta de 1-3 pm. Todos los participantes que recaudan 500 pesos o más pueden unirse a la fiesta y el gran sorteo! Para los estudiantes que deseen ayudar a recaudar localmente sin necesidad de utilizar la página de surf a ton se mandaran formatos de permiso a casa esta semana. Estamos pidiendo el permiso de los padres en primer lugar para permitir a su hijo que pida que donen. Una vez que tengamos el formato firmado vamos a enviar a casa un formato de patrocinio.

Después de nuestro artista en residencia, Celebrando el Ritmo, en mayo tendremos el equipo talentoso de Jason Burnstein y Elena Orsak. Por favor únase a nuestros artistas invitados que visitan, Jason y Elena, ya que comparten su mezcla única de payaso, malabares, mimo y música en una actuación especial emergente aquí en CVIS el miércoles 16 de marzo a las 2:15 pm en la cancha. La actuación está orientada a captar la imaginación de todas las edades por lo que todos son bienvenidos y animados a asistir! Este sumario de su programa original para dos personas será de aproximadamente 15 minutos de duración y comenzará puntualmente a las 2:15 pm. Jason y Elena se van a presentar a la comunidad y dar una idea de lo que está por venir.

Jason y Elena recientemente se mudaron de Minneapolis, Minnesota, donde ambos tienen muchos años de experiencia trabajando con niños de 5-18 años. Juntos traen una gran cantidad de talento en las artes de teatro, circo, música, pintura y mucho más! Ellos comenzarán a enseñar algunas clases por semana en abril y luego tomarán el programa de artista en residencia después de la presentación de Celebrando el Ritmo en Mayo. También comenzarán a ofrecer algunas actividades después de clases después de las vacaciones.

Oportunidades después de la escuela con Jason y Elena:

A partir de la semana del 3 de abril Jason estará ofreciendo un club de malabarismo para los estudiantes de 9-15 años de edad que se reunirán todos los lunes y miércoles de 2:30-3:30. Todos los niveles de malabaristas son bienvenidos; no se requiere experiencia. Ven a aprender a hacer malabares o aprender nuevos trucos. ¡Las posibilidades son infinitas! Recordatorio:

Día de la tierra es el 22 de abril. Para el mes de abril estoy desafiando a cada familia, y cada uno de los estudiantes, al Desafío Mes de la Tierra! La idea es simple: vivir una vida más sostenible requiere cambios en nuestra vida diaria. La idea detrás del desafío Mes de la Tierra es que elija un pequeño cambio que le gustaría hacer para vivir de forma más la esperanza es que después del mes, el cambio sea permanente. Piensen en como su familia puede hacer una diferencia uniéndose al desafío en abril. 

Gran oportunidad después de la escuela muy pronto! Después de Semana Santa, CVIS madre y fabricante medios, Niki Bhattacharya ofrecerá clases de cine en CVIS de 3:30-5:30 los lunes y miércoles (clase puede ser otro día si funciona mejor para las familias). Este es un curso de 6 semanas en la narrativa digital que incluirá la búsqueda de una historia, escribir un guión, la producción de un rodaje, trabajar con actores o sujetos, formación de películas/sonido, edición y cribado (equipo será proporcionado). Hay mucho que cubrir por lo que la clase será de 2 horas /semana con posible filmación exterior. El costo es de $240 pesos por sesión de 2 horas ($1.440 para el curso). Becas podrán ser posibles para aquellos que no pueden cumplir con el costo. El tamaño de la clase se limitará para que todos puedan participar plenamente.

Niki tiene títulos de grado y postgrado en el cine y más de 10 años de experiencia en la industria de cine documental. Ha impartido cursos de producción de películas de grado y corrió el programa de película documental MFA en la Escuela de Artes Visuales durante siete años. Conferences, Surf A Thon, Earth Day

Dear Community,

Parent/Teacher conferences are this week! If you haven’t already, please be sure to make an appointment with your child’s teachers before Thursday, and please remember that on both days school will let out at 12.  Teachers are preparing for these conferences and we ask that you too begin to prepare—below are a few good questions to consider.  We find that when parents have also spent time preparing, the conferences go more smoothly and more is gained during the conversation.

1) What growth have you noticed in your child so far this year?

2) What is something your child has accomplished this year that you are very proud of?

3) What would you like to see your child accomplish before the end of the school year?

4) What questions do you have about your child that you’d like to ask teachers?

5) Do you have any concerns you’d like to discuss?

Earth day is coming next month, on April 22.  For the month of April I am challenging each and every family, and each and every student, to the Earth Month Challenge!  The idea is simple: living a more sustainable life requires changes in our daily lives.  At times making such changes can seem overwhelming!  The idea behind the Earth Month Challenge is that you choose one small change you’d like to make to live more sustainably and then for one month you and your family make the change.  The hope is that after the month, the change is permanent and you can focus on your next small change.  We already embarked on a challenge together this month—eliminating plastic bags from bolios each morning.  And it’s already worked! It’s easy when you work as a team!

Here are a few examples of challenges you could take on:

*Refuse to use any Styrofoam

*Refuse straws when they are offered to you

*Walk to school once or twice a week (or more) instead of driving (and yes, even our electric golf carts cause pollution—where does that electricity come from?)

*Help clean up your neighborhood

*Buy few packaged food and reduce your garbage

*Start recycling if you don’t already

*Start composting by dropping off your food waste/scraps at school—we’d love your help in making more compost!

*Incorporate more non-toxic cleaning products in your house

*Take shorter showers and conserve water

*Start a home garden and grow some of your own food

*Find something that is important to you and do it!

The idea for the challenge is that you work with your family to make the change and then try and stick with it.  Start thinking about how your family can make a difference by engaging in the Earth Month Challenge in April.  I’ll check back with you the first week in April to see what you’re doing!

Also, the annual Surf a thon is coming in April!  The date has been set for Saturday, April 23.  Save this date so you can come out for a super fun day of fundraising, surfing, and playing.  We will send a separate email with more information, but for now here is a link with info, and you can get started right away getting sponsors:

Volunteers needed to help clean Sayuparke.  The Sayulita Days fair was super fun, but it also left a mess at Sayuparke.  Please join a team of volunteers on Wednesday at 9am to help restore the park to it’s usual clean state!  It won’t take long if enough people show up—please stop by and help!

Great new after school offering coming soon! Beginning after Semana Santa, CVIS parent and media maker Niki Bhattacharya will offer Filmmaking Classes at CVIS from 3:30-5:30 on Thursdays (class can be another day if that works better for families). This 6-week course in digital storytelling will include finding a story, writing a script, producing a shoot, working with actors or subjects, filming/sound, editing and screening (equipment will be provided). There is a lot to cover so the class will be 2 hours/week with possible outside filming. The cost is $240 pesos per 2 hour session ($1,440 for the course). Scholarships may be possible for those who can't meet the tuition. The class size will be limited so everyone can fully participate. 

Niki has undergraduate and graduate degrees in filmmaking and over 10 years of experience in the documentary film industry.  She has taught undergraduate film production courses and ran the documentary film MFA program at the School of Visual Arts for seven years.

Si no lo ha hecho,  asegúrese de hacer una cita con el maestro de su hijo antes del jueves, y por favor recuerde que los dos días la escuela terminará a 12. Los maestros se están preparando para estas conferencias y le pedimos que también comience a prepararse-a continuación unas buenas preguntas a considerar. La idea detrás del desafío Mes de la Tierra es que elija un pequeño cambio que le gustaría hacer para vivir de forma más sostenible y durante un mes usted y su familia haga el cambio. La esperanza es que después del mes, el cambio sea permanente y pueda centrarse en su próximo cambio pequeño. Ya nos embarcamos en un desafío juntos este mes, la eliminación de las bolsas de plástico de los bolillos cada mañana. Y ya ha funcionado! Es fácil cuando se trabaja en equipo!

Aquí están algunos ejemplos de los desafíos que se pueden tomar:
* Negarse a utilizar cualquier unicel
* Rechazar popotes cuando les ofrezcan
* Caminar a la escuela una o dos veces a la semana (o más) en lugar de conducir (y sí, incluso nuestros carros de golf eléctricos causan contaminación. De dónde viene la electricidad?)
* Ayudar a limpiar su vecindario
* Comprar pocos alimentos envasados reducir su basura
* Iniciar el reciclaje si no lo hace ya
* Empezar a usar la composta – puede dejar sus residuos de alimentos en la escuela –nos encantaría contar con su ayuda para hacer más compost a!

* Tome duchas más cortas y conservar el agua
* Iniciar un jardín en casa y hacer crecer algunos de sus propios alimentos

Dia de la Bandera (Flag Day Mexico), Re-enrollment and more!

Dear Community,

I’d like to start this week’s letter with some thank yous.  First and foremost thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped to make the fundraiser happen last week—to all those who helped to plan, all those who helped to set up and clean up, and all those who helped to run show on the night of the event.  Thank you so much!!  And, I’d like to thank all of you who attend the event and supported our efforts to raise money for our amazing scholarship program.  On behalf of the families and students that benefit from the scholarship program, THANK YOU!

With all the illness that is going around I want to share a few recommendations to help in preventing the spread of the viruses currently circulating:

1) Wash your hands, a lot.  Over and over.  
2) Clean your fruits and veggies more than usual
3) Clean and disinfect surfaces around your house—counters, toilet handles, sinks and faucet handles, doorknobs, ect.
4) Really clean your laundry being sure not to re-wear clothing prior to washing it
5) Please keep your child home if you suspect they are sick—the viruses are spreading very quickly here at school!  
6) Drink lots of water and get lots of rest!

This Wednesday, February 24th, Costa Verde will participate in the Mexican Flag Day Parade. All students must be at school at 8:30 a.m. Children from Kinder 3 are asked to come dressed in traditional Mexican clothing (adelitas and peasant clothing). In keeping with CVIS’ rules against playing with guns or other weapons, we ask that students not carry these items as part of their costume.  Students from primary school should come in their uniform: khaki shorts, pants or skirt and the green t-shirt, black or brown shoes. Middle school students should wear their uniform: black school t-shirt, khaki skirt or pants and black or brown shoes. All students should bring a filled water bottle.  We will walk from school to the plaza and at 10:00 the parade will end, and we ask that you pick up your children at the plaza by the church at this time.  Students from Kinder 1 and 2 are invited to participate in the parade, but for safety reasons we ask that these students are accompanied by a parent.

Last week school pictures were taken. We are aware that some of your children missed having their picture taken due to illness so we will have make-up photos next Monday, February 29.  If your child missed the original picture day please be sure to have them at school next Monday and dressed in their polo shirt.

As you know every class at CVIS is involved in a community service project as part of our Roots and Shoots program (https://www.rootsandshoots.org).  Here’s an update of what a few classes are doing, with more updates in the coming weeks:

*Grade 1 is visiting Sayuparke each week and making sure it’s garbage free

*Grade 3 is travelling into town every other week to sing songs and share the joy of music

*Grade 4 is supporting Dulces Suenos and helping to make mattresses for local children who do not have a mattress to sleep on.  They are doing this by recycling single use plastic bags

On Friday, March 4 the CVIS staff will have a special professional development workshop.  This is the fourth in a yearlong series focussing on culture and communication, aimed at strengthening our inter-cultural work together.  Students will be release from school at 12pm on this day.

Re-enrollment of the 2016-17 school year continues.  Re-enrolment forms are in the office and will only take a moment or two to fill out.  The special re-enrolment period for returning families lasts until March 18.  After that time we will begin accepting applications from new families, so be sure to secure your child’s spot during the re-enrolment period.

Upcoming dates

February 24: Dia de la Bandera (Flag Day Mexico).  Students should arrive at 8:30 and the parade starts at 9am.  Students will be released after the parade, around 10am—please meet your child outside the church on the plaza.
February 26: No school, professional development

Una disculpa por la carta tarde, no pudimos mandarla ayer.

Estimada Comunidad,

Me gustaría empezar la carta de esta semana con un poco de agradecimientos. En primer lugar y ante todo gracias a todos los padres voluntarios que ayudaron en la recaudación de fondos la semana pasada- a todos aquellos que ayudaron a planear, todos que ayudaron a montar y limpiar, y todos que ayudaron a dirigir el show la noche del evento. ¡¡Muchas gracias!! Y, me gustaría dar las gracias a todos los que asistieron al evento y apoyaron nuestros esfuerzos para recaudar dinero para nuestro programa de becas increíble. En nombre de las familias y los estudiantes que se benefician del programa de becas, GRACIAS!

Con todas las enfermedades que están dando vueltas quiero compartir algunas recomendaciones para ayudar en la prevención del contagio de los virus que circulan actualmente:

1) Lávese las manos, mucho. Una y otra vez.

2) Limpiar las frutas y verduras más de lo habitual

3) Limpiar y desinfectar las superficies alrededor de su casa –superficies, manijas de inodoros, lavabos, manijas de lavabo, manijas de puertas, etc.

4) Realmente limpiar su ropa y estar seguro de no volver a ponerse la ropa antes de lavarla

5) Por favor, mantenga a su hijo en casa si sospecha que están enfermos, los virus se contagian muy rápidamente aquí en la escuela!

6) Beba mucha agua y descansar mucho!

El día Miércoles,  24 de Febrero  Costa Verde participará en el desfile del Día de la Bandera , por lo cual tendrán que estar los todos los alumnos en el colegio a las 8:30 am; los alumnos de Kínder  3º,vendrán con el vestuario típico mexicano (adelitas y revolucionarios) y recordarles que como parte de nuestro reglamento de CVISno tenemos permitido jugar con pistolas o cualquier arma le pedimos que no traiga  pistolas, rifles o cualquier arma de juguete como parte del vestuario;  la sección de Primaria traerán su uniforme  pantalón, bermuda o falda kaki  con playera verde de CVIS, zapatos negros o cafés y un pequeño termo de agua. Los alumnos de Secundaria traerán su uniforme; playera negra del colegio y bermuda, falda o pantalón kaki.

Caminaremos del colegio hasta la plaza donde a las 10:00 podrá recogerlos a sus hijos por la iglesia, favor de ser puntuales y avisar quienrecogerá a su hijo o hija.

Los alumnos de Kínder 1º y 2º podrán ir con vestuario típico mexicano y caminaran  en el desfile, solo si van acompañados de uno de sus padres, ya que es por su seguridad.

Se tomaron fotos escolares la semana pasada en la escuela. Somos conscientes de que algunos de sus hijos no estuvieron presentes debido a una enfermedad, así que tendremos fotos el próximo lunes, 29 de febrero. Si su hijo se perdió el día de la foto por favor asegúrese de traerlos a la escuela el próximo lunes con su playera polo.

Como saben todas las clases en CVIS están involucrados en un proyecto de servicio comunitario como parte de nuestro programa Roots and Shoots (https://www.rootsandshoots.org). Aquí está una actualización de lo que algunas clases están haciendo, con más actualizaciones en las próximas semanas:

* 1º Visita a Sayuparke cada semana para asegurarse que esté libre de basura

* 3º está viajando al pueblo cada dos semanas para cantar canciones y compartir la alegría de la música

Los estudiantes saldrán de la escuela a las 12 pm este día.

Reinscripción del año escolar 2016-17 continúa. Formatos de Reinscripción están en la oficina y sólo se toma un momento para llenar. El período especial de reinscripción para las familias que regresan dura hasta el 18 de marzo. Después se comenzará a aceptar solicitudes de nuevas familias, así que asegúrese de apartar el lugar de su hijo durante el período de reinscripción.

Próximas Fechas
24 de febrero: Día de la Bandera (Flag Day Mexico). Los estudiantes deben llegar a las 8:30 y el desfile comienza a las 9 am. Los estudiantes serán entregados después del desfile, alrededor de 10 am-por favor pase por su hijo fuera de la iglesia en la plaza.

Luau, Eye Exams and More!

Dear Community,

February is shaping up to be a really busy, and fun, month! I have a few new things to share with you this week and a few very important reminders.

On Wednesday a local optometrist will be conducting free basic eye examinations for all of our students.  If any student is found to have an irregularity in their vision you will contacted for follow up.  There will be no obligation to purchase any service or glasses; you will simply be notified that there is concern about your child’s vision and will be encouraged to follow up.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week we will be doing some filming for a CVIS promotional video.  All filming will be done by Anne Ackerman (school founder and parent).  We are asking you a favor and we hope you can support us:  please send your children to school in extra clean uniforms on these days as they will likely be filmed for the video.  We look forward to what Anne will create and we will share the final product with you as soon as it’s ready.

Movie night was going to be this Friday, but we remembered that Entre Amigos is celebrating their 10th Anniversary.  We don’t want to keep anyone from celebrating with Nicole and her team that night so we are rescheduling the movie.  We’ll let you know when we have a new date.  

School pictures will be taken next Monday, February 15.  Please be sure your child comes to school in her/his polo shirt that day!

Correction: Parent-teacher conferences are March 10th and 11th.  In last week’s letter I indicated March 3rd and 4th—my apologies!  Please remember that on these two days school will end at 12.

A few really important reminders:

We are just one week away from our annual CVIS fundraiser!  The fundraiser is on Wednesday, February 17 and tickets are on sale now—this is an event you don’t want to miss, and for so many reasons—the food, the dancing, the auction; but more importantly this event supports our Adopt a Scholar program which provides tuition assistance for deserving local scholars so they can be part of the CVIS family and realize their educational dreams.  

It is important to note that tuition does not in any way help to support the scholarship program—we rely entirely on our fundraising efforts to support the program.  So, come out for a great party and an even better cause!  Tickets are available at CVIS, Avalos, and on line—got to: Fundraiser tickets and look for the “Buy Luau Tickets Here” tab.  Childcare will be available at CVIS on the night of the fundraiser and we will send more information next week.

Re-enrollment of the 2016-17 school year begins this week.  Re-enrolment forms are in the office and will only take a moment or two to fill out.  The special re-enrolment period for returning families lasts until March 18.  After that time we will begin accepting applications from new families, so be sure to secure your child’s spot during the re-enrolment period.

Febrero se perfila en ser un mes muy ocupado, y divertido! Tengo un par de cosas nuevas para compartir con ustedes esta semana y algunos recordatorios muy importantes.

El miércoles un optometrista local estará llevando a cabo exámenes de la vista básicos gratuitos para todos nuestros estudiantes. Si se encuentra que cualquier estudiante tenga una irregularidad en su visión va ser contactado para su seguimiento. No habrá ninguna obligación de comprar cualquier servicio o lentes; simplemente se le notifica que existe la preocupación acerca de la visión de su hijo y se fomentará el seguimiento.

El martes y el miércoles de esta semana vamos a filmar un poco para un video promocional de CVIS. Toda la filmación se llevará a cabo por Anne Ackerman (fundadora de la escuela y madre de CVIS). Les estamos pidiendo un favor y esperamos que nos puede apoyar: por favor envié sus hijos a la escuela con uniformes limpios en estos días ya que probablemente serán filmados para el vídeo. Dear Community,

I hope you enjoyed the extra long weekend with your children and that you were able to get out and enjoy some the Festival Sayulita events.  A big congratulation and thank you to Gabbi and Andrea (and all of the event organizers) for an incredible festival!

The value of the month is respect (Aretha!).  As we do each month, teachers will be discussing the value throughout the month and highlighting the ways in which we can show our respect for ourselves, others, the environment, and our local community.  We ask that you also take some time to discuss the importance of respect with your child, perhaps sharing some stories that highlight its importance.

Before I finish this letter, I want to take a moment to say a big thank you to our incredible APO (parents association) for all their hard work this year.  This is a group of parents who are helping to organize events and mobilize volunteers to help support what we are doing at school.  We couldn’t be the school we are today without our APO and the great work they are doing!  Please remember that each family is asked by the school to complete 20 hours of service each year—seek out your class representative, APO President Ale Galvan, or Dana in the office to find out about volunteer service opportunities.

Antes de terminar esta carta, quiero tomar un momento para dar un gran agradecimiento a nuestro increíble APO (Asociación de padres) por todo su trabajo este año. Se trata de un grupo de padres que están ayudando a organizar eventos y movilizar voluntarios para ayudar a apoyar lo que estamos haciendo en la escuela. No podríamos ser la escuela que somos hoy sin nuestro APO y el gran trabajo que están haciendo! New Rooms, Festival Sayulita, Afterschool Programs and More!

Dear Community,

I want to start by saying a huge thank you to the incredible staff at CVIS who worked tirelessly to help move the office and two kinder classes last week.  It was not an easy transition to leave the main building, but teachers and staff handled the change with grace.  A big thank you to all for the help!

It’s that time of year when we ask you to consider your plans for next year and we hope your plans include returning to CVIS.  The re-enrollment period begins next week on Monday, February 1 and continues until March 18.  It is crucial that you re-enroll your child (children) during this time period and pay the needed deposit in order to secure your child(s) spot in a particular class.  Many of our classes are at capacity, or are nearing capacity, so it is especially important that you re-enroll in time this year.  After March 18 we will open enrollment to new families.  A specific enrollment and tuition note will be sent to you tomorrow.

On Wednesday of this week, in conjunction with Festival Sayulita, Mark Sharpiro will be visiting us.  Mark works for LAIKA (http://www.laika.com), an animation company in the US, and last year he introduced us to the Box Trolls—it was an incredible experience for the kids!  This year he will again give us a sneak peak behind the scenes of animation movie making, and we are excited to see what he has in store for us!

A quick note about the dress code.  With the colder weather we know that extra clothing has been a necessity—extra jackets, hats, leggings, sweat pants—and we, too, have added extra layers to stay warm.  We are, however, noticing students drifting away from the dress code more and more and we are writing to ask for your support.  We simply ask that you do all you can to keep your child warm and keep them in their uniform—for example, leggings can be worn under skirts and sweat pants can be worn over shorts so they can be removed later in the day when it warms up.  We appreciate your help with this. Please note that we have CVIS jackets and long pants for sale here at school.

I know I have been reminding you about Festival Sayulita for weeks now, but this is the big week so I am going to mention it one last time! There are events beginning Wednesday and continuing until the 31st (Festival Sayulita).  Two fun opportunities for kids are both on January 29th (no school): Kid’s Day at the plaza (starts at 4pm), and Stumble in the Jungle Fun Run (starts at 9, registration at 8:30).  Last year several groups of CVIS students participated and had a great time!  CVIS students showing up in the CVIS t-shirts can participate for free, but you can also register (supports the event, and you get a cool t-shirt!).  Please come out to support this amazing event!  There will also be a surf completion for kids!  Check out this link for more information: Surf comp

Also don’t forget about the CVIS fundraiser on February 17.  This event supports our Adopt a Scholar program which provides tuition assistance for local students so they can be part of the CVIS family and realize their educational dreams.  Don’t miss the best party of the year!     

After school opportunities:

After School Art classes with Ale continue on Mondays.  These classes include arts and craft projects.  The class meets at the lunch tables beginning immediately after school.  Cost is $150 pesos per session.

Sayulita Wado-Kai Karate Club - Self-Defense, Fitness and Fun

Come get some exercise while learning something useful, having fun and developing more self-confidence. In Sayulita Wado-Kai Karate you will improve your balance and coordination, increase your flexibility, build strength and get in great shape. Through this training Sayulita kids learn self discipline and confidence through the mastery of techniques.

Classes include stretching, cardio and strength building exercises. We practice basic techniques and stances, katas (forms, similar to tai-chi) and specific self-defense applications. Wado Kai (Way of Peace) Karate is a martial art that teaches effective self-defense skills by developing ones explosive power, timing and coordination. A strong emphasis is also placed on developing ones character so that violent confrontation can be avoided.

Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays:

Kids class (age 6-11) from 5-6pm

Querida Comunidad,

Quiero empezar con un enorme agradecimiento al personal increíble de CVIS que trabajó incansablemente para ayudar a mover la oficina y dos clases de kínder la semana pasada. No fue una transición fácil abandonar el edificio principal, pero los profesores y el personal manejo el cambio con gracia. Muchas gracias a todos por su ayuda!

Llego la época del año en que le pedimos que consideren sus planes para el próximo año, y esperamos que sus planes incluyan regresar a CVIS. El período de reinscripción comienza el lunes de la próxima semana, 1 de febrero y continúa hasta el 18 de marzo. Es crucial que vuelva a inscribir a su hijo(s) durante este período de tiempo y pagar el depósito necesario para asegurar un lugar para su hijo(s).Muchos de nuestros salones están llenos, o por llenarse, por lo que es especialmente importante que vuelvan a inscribirse a tiempo este año. El miércoles de esta semana, en conjunto con el Festival Sayulita, nos visitara Mark Sharpiro. Sin embargo, estamos notando que los estudiantes se están alejando del código de vestimenta más y más y nos dirigimos a pedir su apoyo. Simplemente pedimos que usted haga todo lo posible para mantener a su hijo cálido y mantenerlos con uniforme, leggings se pueden usar debajo de las faldas y pants se pueden usar arriba de los shorts para que se los puedan quitar más tarde cuando haga más calor. Sayulita Wado - Kai Karate Club - Autodefensa, Fitness y Diversión

Venga a hacer algo de ejercicio mientras aprende algo útil, divertiendose y desarrollando más confianza en sí mismo. En Sayulita Wado-Kai Karate usted mejorará su equilibrio y coordinación, aumentara su flexibilidad y fuerza, y se pondrá en forma. A través de esta formación en Sayulita niños aprenden autodisciplina y confianza a través del dominio de las técnicas.

Las clases incluyen estiramientos, ejercicios de cardio y fuerza. Practicamos las técnicas básicas y posturas, katas (formas, similar al tai-chi) y aplicaciones de defensa específicos. Wado Kai (Camino de la Paz) karate es un arte marcial que enseña habilidades de defensa eficaces mediante el desarrollo de la fuerza explosiva, y la coordinación. Karate, Art and Festival Sayulita!

Dear Community,

I write this week’s letter from home as I have contracted the strong virus that seems to be going around.  I am reminded that this little town is like a cruise ship and that viruses spread very easily and quickly.  Be sure you are washing your hands frequently, getting plenty of rest, and staying hydrated!

As I mentioned in last week’s note Festival Sayulita is coming soon—January 27-31 (Festival Sayulita).  Two fun opportunities for kids are both on January 29th (no school): Kid’s Day at the plaza (starts at 4pm), and Stumble in the Jungle Fun Run (starts at 9, registration at 8:30).  Last year several groups of CVIS students participated and had a great time!  CVIS students showing up in the CVIS t-shirts can participate for free, but you can also register (supports the event, and you get a cool t-shirt!).  Please come out to support this amazing event!  Check out the attached poster.

After School Art classes with Ale continue on Mondays.  These classes include arts and craft projects.  The class meets at the lunch tables beginning immediately after school next Monday.  Cost is $150 pesos per session.

Karate returns to CVIS!  Terry Orr is once again offering karate classes after school beginning next week (times listed below).  Here is the information from Terry:

Sayulita Wado-Kai Karate Club - Self-Defense, Fitness and Fun

Come get some exercise while learning something useful, having fun and developing more self-confidence. In Sayulita Wado-Kai Karate you will improve your balance and coordination, increase your flexibility, build strength and get in great shape. Through this training Sayulita kids learn self discipline and confidence through the mastery of techniques.

Classes include stretching, cardio and strength building exercises. We practice basic techniques and stances, katas (forms, similar to tai-chi) and specific self-defense applications. Wado Kai (Way of Peace) Karate is a martial art that teaches effective self-defense skills by developing ones explosive power, timing and coordination. A strong emphasis is also placed on developing ones character so that violent confrontation can be avoided.

Escribo la carta de esta semana desde mi casa, he contraído el virus que al parecer está de moda. Me acuerdo que esta pequeña ciudad es como un crucero y que los virus se contagian muy fácil y rápidamente. Asegúrese de lavarse las manos con frecuencia, descansar, y mantenerse hidratado!

Como ya mencione en la carta de la semana pasada, ya viene Festival Sayulita- 27 hasta 31 de enero (Festival Sayulita). Hay dos oportunidades de diversión para los niños el 29 de enero (no hay clases): El día del niño en la plaza (comienza a las 4pm), y Stumble in the Jungle Fun Run (comienza a las 9, inscripciones a las 8:30). El año pasado participaron varios grupos de estudiantes CVIS y lo pasamos muy bien! Estudiantes de CVIS que lleven puesta la playera de CVIS pueden participar de forma gratuita, pero también se pueden registrar (apoya el evento, y se obtiene una playera padre!). Clases de arte con Ale continúan los lunes. Estas clases incluyen proyectos de arte y manualidades. La clase se reúne en las mesas del almuerzo y comienzan inmediatamente después de la escuela el próximo lunes. El costo es de $150 pesos por clase.

Sayulita Wado - Kai Karate Club - Autodefensa, Fitness y Diversión

Venga a hacer algo de ejercicio mientras aprende algo útil, divertiendose y desarrollando más confianza en sí mismo. En Sayulita Wado-Kai Karate usted mejorará su equilibrio y coordinación, aumentara su flexibilidad y fuerza, y se pondrá en forma. A través de esta formación en Sayulita niños aprenden autodisciplina y confianza a través del dominio de las técnicas.

Las clases incluyen estiramientos, ejercicios de cardio y fuerza. Practicamos las técnicas básicas y posturas, katas (formas, similar al tai-chi) y aplicaciones de defensa específicos. Wado Kai (Camino de la Paz) karate es un arte marcial que enseña habilidades de defensa eficaces mediante el desarrollo de la fuerza explosiva, y la coordinación. New Semester!

Dear Community,

A very Happy New Year!  We hope this year is one of great prosperity, growth, and adventure!  We are so happy to have you as part of our community as we begin the New Year, one with so much to look forward to!

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new (and newly returning) families—it’s nice to have you here (have you back).  If you see some of these new faces please take a moment to say hello and introduce yourselves—it’s always nice to feel the warmth and friendliness of this community when you first arrive.

The New Year is always a good time to reflect on your life and how things are going.  I am not personally a big fan of new year’s resolutions but I do like to take the start of the new year to set new goals for myself—it’s a good marking point, and it really does feel like a fresh start.  What new things are you looking forward to in the coming year?  How can you grow and make changes to make your life, and the life of those around you, a little bit better this year?  As it’s been said, change starts within and emanates outward—what are you wanting to change within so that the world around you can also change for the better?  I’d love to hear from you!

Celebrate the Beat (http://www.ctbeat.org) is back this year and starting tomorrow!  We are extremely excited to welcome Colleen and her crew (dancers and musicians) back to CVIS for another great year of music and dance.  As we did last year there will be a HUGE culminating performance in May, something you won’t want to miss!  Classes will be every Tuesday and Thursday and will include all grades 1-9.  

An exciting annual event is on the horizon here in Sayulita—Festival Sayulita!  This is an amazing local event that includes incredible movies, a full scale musical concert, a jungle run, workshops, and more.  If you don’t already know about the event or have your tickets follow this link: Festival Sayulita!  

And, speaking of exciting annual events, the big party of the year is coming—the annual CVIS fundraiser.  This event is always the best and most exciting celebration of the year and our big annual fundraiser.  The event is just around the corner so be sure to SAVE THE DATE: February 17.  This year’s theme is Hawaiian, and a memorable party is in the planning!  Aloha!

Un muy Feliz Año Nuevo! Esperamos que este año sea uno de gran prosperidad, crecimiento y aventura! Estamos muy contentos de tenerlo como parte de nuestra comunidad al comenzar el año nuevo, que tiene mucho que esperar!

Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para dar la bienvenida a todas las nuevas (y las que vuelven) familias es bueno tenerlos aquí (tenerlos de vuelta). Si ves algunas de estas caras nuevas por favor tome un momento para saludar y presentarse - siempre es agradable sentir la calidez y amabilidad de esta comunidad cuando llegas por primera vez.

El año nuevo siempre es un buen momento para reflexionar sobre su vida y cómo van las cosas. Yo no soy fan de los propósitos de año nuevo, pero me gusta tomar el inicio del nuevo año para establecer nuevas metas para mí mismo, y realmente se siente como un nuevo comienzo. ¿Qué cosas nuevas espera en el próximo año? ¿Cómo se puede crecer y hacer cambios para hacer de su vida, y la vida de los que te rodean, un poco mejor este año? Como se ha dicho, el cambio empieza dentro y emana hacia afuera ¿qué esperas cambiar por dentro para que el mundo que te rodea también pueda cambiar para mejorar? Me encantaría saber!

Estamos muy contentos de dar la bienvenida a Colleen y su tripulación (bailarines y músicos) de nuevo a CVIS para otro gran año de música y danza. Como hicimos el año pasado, habrá un espectáculo enorme que culminó en mayo, algo que usted no querrá perderse! Las clases serán todos los martes y jueves, y se incluirán todos los grados 1-9.

Un evento anual emocionante está por llegar aquí en Sayulita - Festival de Sayulita! Este es un evento local increíble que incluye películas increíbles, un concierto musical a gran escala, una carrera en la selva, talleres y mucho más. Y, hablando de eventos anuales emocionantes, viene la gran fiesta del año, la recaudación de fondos anual de CVIS. Mid December

Dear Community,

It’s incredible to think that we are already half way through December and just a few short days away from the holiday break.  The time has flown by this first part of the year, but it has been a great four months.  We have seen so much change and growth in your children and we are really pleased with how things are going.  We hope you feel the same!

I have often been fascinated by the sheer number of holidays and/or celebrations that happen this time of year.  A quick internet search for holidays celebrated in December yielded this list: Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Mexican), Ramadan (Muslim), St. Nicholas Day (Christian),Eid al-Fitr (Muslim), SaiEid'ul-Adha (Muslim), St. Lucia Day (Swedish), Hanukkah (Jewish), Christmas Day (Christian), Three Kings Day/Epiphany (Christian), Boxing Day (Australian, Canadian, English, Irish), Kwanzaa (African American), Omisoka (Japanese), Yule (Pagan), Saturnalia (Pagan).  I enjoy knowing that this is a month of celebration, regardless of faith, and that during this time of year families come together to share and rejoice in their faith.  Whatever your faith, I sincerely hope your celebration is full of love and joy.

Please remember that this Friday, December 18 we will have a holiday performance.  The performance will begin at 11am and we hope you will join us!  School will be dismissed for vacation following the performance (around 12:15).

December 21-January 5: Vacation!  Please note we are now required to return on January 6 (previously January 7)

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  SEP has changed the return date after the holiday break.  We are now required to return on Wednesday, January 6 (not January 7).  Please make note of this.  Originally they had scheduled December 21 as a school day but have now changed this, and as a result they have shortened the vacation by one day.

On behalf of the staff here at CVIS we wish you the happiest of holidays and we hope you get to enjoy some extra special time with your families.  This is a great time to appreciate all the love you have in your life, and commit to sharing even more with family and friends in the coming year.

Es increíble pensar que ya estamos a mitad de diciembre y sólo a unos días de las vacaciones. El tiempo ha pasado volando esta primera parte del año, pero han sido unos grandes cuatro meses. Hemos visto tantos cambios y crecimiento de sus hijos, y estamos muy contentos con cómo van las cosas. Esperamos que sienta lo mismo!

Me gusta saber que este es un mes de celebración, independientemente de la fe, y que durante esta época del año las familias se reúnen para compartir y alegrarse con su fe.
